Introduction

The general managers Thorsten Frey and Peter Trute set up the company in the year 1996 out of their joint activity in climate ecology at the Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology at the University of Hanover.

The interest for environmental meteorology and environmental planning led the way to the subject of renewable energy, especially wind energy.

Meanwhile, GEO-NET consists of a close networking team of meteorologists, geographers and planners, as well as programmers, GIS and CAD specialists and remote sensing experts.

Between the University of Hanover and GEO-NET is a close cooperation in research and praxis. Together with Prof. Dr. Günter Groß from the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology at the University of Hanover, the mesoscale model FITNAH-3D is used and optimized for the calculation of wind fields and climatic parameters.
